Dinosaur invasion & Preschool

Did you know that October is International Dinosaur Month? I guess Madisen's preschool teachers did because that is their theme this month. Once I realized this, I decided it was a great opportunity for us to expand our horizons.
-I announced that we were going to the library & asked if they would like to get some dinosaur books since she was studying them at school. Madisen's response was priceless, "Can we get princess and dinosaur books?" We have enjoyed reading & conversing about these prehistoric animals. In preschool they learn about a new one each day & we are learning right along with them. Do you know what a pteranadon is?

-We watched "The Land Before Time" for pizza and movie night one week. Phrases like, "Poor Petry" and "Ducky is my name. Yep, yep, yep. That's my name. Ducky, Ducky, Ducky." are now common at our house.

-We discovered the new show on PBS Kids, Dinosaur Train. It's the only show they request to watch every day. ALL ABOARD!

-One day in school they got to create and name a dinosaur with play-doh. My over achiever made 2; one named Un-Princess and one named Cinderella. With the rest of the dough she made Little Foot and his grandparents. Caitlyn made a dinosaur egg.
-She got to make & paint a paper mache dinosaur egg. When we opened it there was a tiny dinosuar inside. A real treasure!
Madisen started her 2nd year of preschool at the beginning of September. We felt REALLY lucky to get her in when we did. It is a perfect setting for her. It turns out that all 12 children are from our ward, as are the teachers, so they have prayer at snack time and recite the pledge each day. I love that she gets to experience prayer in school! Her excitement for learning is exploding right now. She is eager to share what she has learned, is retaining everything, wants to spell words & thinks she can read. Here she is on the first day of school.

I am glad that school is working out well. It looks like Caitlyn is benefitting as well.
