St. Patrick's Day

We woke up to some mild mischief caused by a few Leprechauns. After all were adorned in their green attire, we had green oatmeal and kiwi for breakfast. The kiwi was not a winner with this silly crowd.Then it was off to the park for our 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Potluck Party.

This year Amy headed up the treasure hunt... just look at that sea of green.

I wish this picture did justice to just how many people showed up. The more the merrier to celebrate silly holidays... especially when it's spring break!

We followed green footprints through the forest to the pot o' gold.

The rest of our day consisted of a nap for mom & Brooklyn while the other 2 enjoyed a show, a green bath, and green chicken and rice for dinner with green jell-o and green beans! Ah, the simple pleasures of devoting a day to a color.

A busy week.... March 7-12

This week was jam packed with BIG activities (mixed in with our 'normal' life):
-I hosted Brooklyn's play group
-We spent an afternoon at the Houston Livestock show (in conjunction with the Houston Rodeo)
-I had a routine ultrasound at 33 weeks.
-We went to the butterfly museum at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for Caitlyn's field trip
-Bill and I went to the rodeo/Rascal Flats concert with some friends
-Bill went camping with the priests
-I watched my friends' 3 kids while she helped with a baby shower/going away party for another friend
-We had a primary teacher appreciation picnic at a local park

I loved the disclaimer on the sign... and then was laughing pretty hard to see that it really was a problem. My 'brave' girls were clinging to Laura and I. We didn't last long in the petting zoo.
Phew! So much fun that we were CERTAINLY ready for Spring Break!

Old McDonalds Farm... again

Last week we visited the farm again, this time with Madisen's kindergarten class (and the other 9 kindergarten classes at her school). The younger girls were able to come along since grandma came too.
It was exciting to see Caitlyn and Brooklyn warm up to the animals. Check out Caitlyn petting the deer and Brooklyn even got brave enough to go in the rabbit pen.

P.S. These animals are unbelievably tame.

Happy Monday

A fun family moved in our ward a few months ago. They have 3 girls, 2 who happened to match ours in ages. We've been trying to get together for FHE for weeks now and it finally happened last night. We played this game and had this tasty dessert- rainbow cupcakes went perfectly with the theme of the creation. I tried to have the girls show the inside of their cupcakes but 2 had eaten them gone already, 1 had only licked the frosting, but the other 2 had their insides exposed.
I can't help but be excited that spring is just around the corner! Do you like our green grass? It's really just green weeds. We've noticed that the only people who have green lawns right now are those who don't really have grass. Proof that looks can be deceiving.

Growing Up

Our little B is growing up WAY.TOO.FAST! On Friday night we took away her binky, or 'boo' as she so affectionately called it. The boo was only used in bed and in the car- 2 places where mama needed her to have it! It was a sad night but each night for both of us, but each night has become progressively easier.
A few milestones since Christmas:
~Her language is exploding. Tonight after Bill pushed her on the swing she said 3 words in a row; "Daddy me wing."
~She's now sleeping in a toddler bed.
~She's learned how to open doors. Gone are the days of her sisters sleeping past her and they are now learning to lock the door when they are using the bathroom.
~Her favorite phrase is "Me do"!

A visit from Great Grandpa

Bill's grandpa was in town this past weekend. We enjoyed a quiet afternoon/ evening visiting at Bill's parents house on Saturday, complete with our first 'swim' of the 2011 season- at the community hot tub. After her shower, Caitlyn snuggled on great-grandpa's lap for a good 30 minutes while we got dinner ready. Later we learned the cause for her extra-snuggliness she ended up with a fever and the flu, poor girl. Luckily, the rest of us have escaped it so far. Last night we met up for dinner again before he left. As you can see, sweet Caitlyn is still under the weather.It's certainly fun to have visitors. That was something that we truly cherished about living in Las Vegas. It was the perfect stopping point on I-15. Now we're just not in anyone's path. But if you're ever looking for a great vacation, remember that we love visitors!

Go Texan Day

Caitlyn joined me to help with the kindergarten festivities for Go Texan Day. The children rotated through all 10 classrooms and had a 7 minute activity in each room. Here are some of the highlights I caught on camera. Caitlyn was so delighted to participate... and picked her own 'cowgirl' outfit. I just love Madisen's pink rain boots. She asked me if we could buy cowboy boots on the computer... maybe next year.
