Yep, you read that right. Today in Houston we are having a snow day. Which means that there is no school and Bill is home. When I took the trash out at 7:30, I realized that not one of our neighbors had left for work and there were NO other trash cans on the street. In fact it was eerily quiet. Hmmm, I must have missed something. Turns out the mayor of Houston shut down the whole city. So I brought the trash back in. However there is not a fleck of snow to be seen, just a lot of ice. Any moisture that fell through the night turned instantly to ice and apparently the roads are a mess. These southerners aren't equipped to handle ice, that's for sure.
On a related note, I was pleased to see this in the hall at the school. Madisen wrote this during writers workshop, which is a fancy way of saying independent writing time. I guess they were supposed to write the steps for building a snow man. Although the writing is good, I'm loving the picture she drew, because everyone should build a snow man in a skirt!
