Our Last Supper...

together did not quite go as planned. I envisioned a memorable evening where we enjoyed some BBQ'd chicken, laughed & prepared for FHE. Instead...

Caitlyn insisted on sitting on my lap. (She had just been the victim of her first set of eye drops to cure her pink eye- which made for MANY tears. She also has some viral infection in her mouth so she hasn't been eating well.) After prayer I dished up Caitlyn's food & started to feed her. The first bite of mashed potatoes came out. I explained that she needed to eat so she didn't get a sick tummy--- doing my best to coax her into at least the potatoes. Brooklyn is now fussing & is in Bill's arms. He decided that she was tired & headed upstairs to lay her down. Caitlyn is eating potatoes in her sleep in my arms & Madisen is chatting away about the difference between potatoes & tomatoes. Once Caitlyn finished her potatoes I took her upstairs where I gave her some Tylenol, put her in her jammies (sent Bill down to eat with Madisen) & started rocking her to sleep. I put some medicine on her tongue which she gagged on. She gagged so hard that she threw up all over me & her. I called for Bill. He & Madisen came running. He bathed Caitlyn, I changed my clothes, and showered Madisen. We put Caitlyn in bed, read Madisen a story & put her down. Sigh.

I came down 1 hour later to eat a cold dinner- by myself. The best laid plans don't always turn out quite how we anticipate.

And now Bill is in Houston on the hunt for a van & starting his new job. The girls & I are holding down the fort... doing our best to keep the house tidy for prospective buyers. And hoping the baby doesn't get sick.

throw up is really the worst. Interesting that the times we want to have everything perfect (and sentimental) they never are-- but it was definitely a night to remember... ?

Good luck to Bill finding a great van for your fam and to you keeping your house clean and your kids healthy. Single parenting can be so exhausting. please call me if you need anything!

I hope Caitlyn is feeling better. Infections in her mouth AND her eye? Pour kid. And I'm sorry that your last dinner together didn't go as planned. At least you get to see Bill again soon.

Sorry it didn't go better. Sometimes it's those little thingsn that can really upset you. I know I would've been crying by the end of the night if I was you.
