Fun in Phoenix

Last weekend Bill had some training to attend in Phoenix so the girls and I went along for the ride. We had such a great time visiting our friends, and some extended family, too! As luck would have it, it was probably the rainiest weekend that Arizona will have all year. It poured rain off and on all day Thursday, and Mesa measured in with 1.25 inches.

On Friday we went to the zoo with Amy (our that used to live near us in Henderson) and her 2 children and Alisha (my good friend from high school) and her 2 children- 3 women and 6 kids... we had a blast! Madisen enjoyed looking at the animals- she always had to climb up the fence just to get a better look. (The fences were made for it.) We saw wallaby's, monkey's, lions, giraffe's, a tiger and more. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the lunch stop where we sat on a bench that overlooked a pond. The kids loved throwing rocks in and watching the fish and turtles.

After a shopping trip to Last Chance (the place where Nordstrom Rack sends their extra clothes), we gathered our sweatshirts and blankets and headed to the Mesa Temple to watch the dress rehearsal of the Easter Pageant. Once the show started we realized that it was in Spanish. It was such a disappointment. We stayed for about 45 minutes and got to enjoy the set, the costumes, and feel the spirit of the message but we left early since it was chilly and the kids started to get restless- oh, and we couldn't understand any of it! But the temple grounds were beautiful and all of the flowers and trees were in bloom! Phoenix is a great place to visit in the spring.

4 Months Already

Wow!! Time is flying so quickly! Tomorrow is Caitlyn's 4 month birthday, but we'll be out of town so I'm posting the picture today. Her cheeks and little legs are starting to fill out. She likes to grab at toys that are hanging in front of her, and the other day she took me by surprise when she rolled from her back to her tummy. It's not a regular thing, but she's starting to get the hang of it. She definitely knows who Madisen is b/c when she's around Caitlyn either looks at her and smiles or she'll blink her eyes real quickly and start to fuss. I like the first scenerio- I'm excited for them to be good friends.

Shoe Shopping

I briefly mentioned that we went to UT for a few days- it was such a wonderful weekend! The reason for our visit was that Christy, Bill's sister, was receiving her endowments, and Bill's cousin got married. Saturday was such a special day that we got to spend mostly in the temple and with our family- it doesn't get better than that. Bill and I got to be the witness couple and it was our first time attending a live session. We felt so lucky to be with Christy on her very special day!

On Friday afternoon Laura, Christy and Aunt Becky had a secret surprise for me- we loaded in the car and went shoe shopping! It was so fun to shop with the girls!! They know how much I love shoes and we had a blast trying on multiple colors and styles of shoes, and of course we found that there were a couple of pairs that we just couldn't live without! Here you can see Madisen in some pink 'slippers', she's such a little lady. What a fabulous surprise outing!!!

Bubbles

The other night after I started the dishwasher, it began foaming as you see. We concluded that Madisen had been playing with the hand soap earlier and had left a puddle in a glass- that I thought I'd rinsed out- and it made it's way into the dishwasher. Of course she had to play in it, and lose the shirt when it was wet.

Today's Funny Time

Today we had Makayla over for a play date. While I was putting Caitlyn to sleep, they followed me upstairs and were playing in Madisen's room. Once Caitlyn was down I went in to see what they were doing, and this is what I saw. I think the picutres speak for themselves, and yes the diaper is on over the jeans.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We celebrated the day by wearing green, having (red) jello in a shamrock mold, and eating corned beef and cabbage for dinner. I love this picture- Madisen is sporting some of her new summer clothes but poor Caitlyn is wearing a winter outfit. It was 88 degrees in Las Vegas on St. Patrick's Day.

It's been a while

It's obvious that I haven't had time to blog lately. Every night I go to bed and think "I need to work on my blog- maybe tomorrow I'll have time." And here we are, almost 1 month later. I received a new church calling about 3 weeks ago, Secretary in the Primary Presidency, and it's been pretty time consuming. Not to mention the fact that we went on a fabulous 5 day trip to UT, and my darling Madisen is into EVERYTHING these days except her toys. I sincerely can't keep up with her. Every time I turn around she's into something that she shouldn't be into!! Here are just some of her latest 'finds':

*About 2 weeks ago, she and her friend Makayla found the fingernail polish in my bathroom. After they decided it was too difficult for them to paint it on their fingernails, they decided to paint my bathroom floor. Thank goodness it's just linoleum! They managed to use the ENTIRE bottle of bubblegum pink fingernail polish- it looked like a Jackson Pollock painting.

*The next morning she pulled the bottle out of the trash and painted the top of the toilet seat while I was in the shower.

*While we were in UT, she found where my mom keeps her markers. In a matter of 30 seconds she scribbled a 4 foot square piece on the kitchen floor, and a 2 foot square piece on her new marble table. We are so fortunate that it was the water color marker and not the permanent one.

*A few days ago, she reached her hand in behind the child locked cabinet and managed to find the Pepto Bismal, while I was changing Caitlyn's diaper. When she wandered in the room where I was, I noticed the pink liquid all over her pants. I was releived that it wasn't fingernail polish! I asked her if she had some, and she assured me that it was "Just a little bit".
