I realized that I never finished my b-day post from last year- until now. I can't let another year go by like that or I'll NEVER get caught up!
This year was PERFECT! The Friday prior to my birthday we had dinner with some friends (pictures to come when I get them), it was a co-celebration for Amy and I. My actual birthday- a Tuesday- began early with a walk at 5:30, then home for the morning routine of getting everyone to school. I got to host Brooklyn's playgroup. We talked about farm animals and made sheep with cotton balls. The girls were darling and William slept almost the whole time- perfect! Once he woke up we were off to Caitlyn's 'Healthy Food Party' at her preschool where we shared some black bean hummus and chips. It was a treat to have lunch with some ladies and not have dishes to do.
My gift to myself was not to fulfill anything on my 'to-do' list. So Caitlyn and I baked- 1 cake for us, Orange Pumpkin (it was delicious!), and some pumpkin cupcakes for Brooklyn. Bill was in charge of dinner- leftovers- and he did the bath routine. The girls were elated to give me their gifts. Bill had sneakily taken them shopping while I was at the RS Broadcast on Saturday night. They chose some exercise pants, some new jammies, and a bag of candy corns. I was impressed they didn't even tell me they had gone. (Well, except Brooklyn kept asking for the tandy torns that daddy bought. I was so confused and repeatedly told her we didn't have any...) After the children were tucked in bed we enjoyed our first ever movie in our bed. It was so relaxing!
I told Bill the only thing I wanted this year was to be able to spend my Christmas gift card (from last year) on a date. We didn't quite get that done, but we spent a few hours shopping and spending some birthday money from this year. I felt spoiled and grateful that he was willing to happily shop with me!
